The Statue of the Redeemer

Imposing and reassured, with large outstretched arms, it stands on the highest point of Monte San Biagio, overlooking the historical center of Maratea and the entire Gulf of Policastro.

Made of cement mixed with Carrara marble, it is an extraordinary work of the Florentine sculptor Bruno Innocenti, installed in 1965. 22 meters high, depicts Christ the Redeemer and gives his back to the sea, a detail that is defined only as you approach perceiving  its massiveness.
